This gathering is a part of our yearlong campaign of litigation, nonviolent resistance, and mass voter mobilization across North Carolina’s Black Belt to confront illegal, immoral, and extreme gerrymandering and defend the right to vote across Eastern North Carolina. The latest gerrymandering efforts by the NC General Assembly are a shameless power-grab and may well serve to awaken the sleeping giant of an electorate that has not turned out higher than 50% in a modern midterm election.
