Moral Mondays Goes South: The March Toward Justice

On Monday, September 29, 10 – 1 PM (local time zones) Repairers of the Breach is coordinating simultaneous actions in southern states as a part of Moral Mondays Goes South: The March Toward Justice. Impacted people, moral leaders and moral activists with gather at district congressional offices and other locations across Southern states to hear testimony from people most impacted by policy violence and the President’s Big, Ugly, Deadly, Destructive Budget Bill and deliver symbolic caskets to honor the lives that will be lost if these cuts stand. This includes the over 51,000 people who will die next year from lack of healthcare access.

Founded in 2013 in North Carolina by Bishop William J. Barber, II, President & Sr. Lecturer of Repairers of the Breach, Moral Mondays is a protest movement that centers on impacted people, people of faith, and moral leaders who hold elected leaders and the government accountable for enacting a moral agenda that responds to the urgent needs of the poor.

If you can’t join in person, you can visit the Repairers of the Breach website and digital channels for updates about Moral Monday actions across the south, including a livestream from Alabama, where Bishop William J. Barber, II will be attending.

Now more than ever, we need moral leaders of diverse faiths, advocates, people of no faith, as well as impacted individuals and families of all backgrounds, to stand and organize together.

If you’d like to join a delegation in your state, sign up today to receive updates and information about your local gathering.
