Moral Mondays Goes South

Repairers of the Breach is leading Moral Monday actions at U.S. Senate offices across the South in opposition to the Big, Bad, Deadly, Destructive Budget Bill recently passed by Congress. We are calling on people of moral conscience to organize for nonviolent, moral resistance and demand U.S. Senators to take immediate action to ensure vital programs are available for the poor, including healthcare access, SNAP benefits, and other social safety net programs.  We will carry symbolic caskets commemorating the 51,000 people who will die next year from lack of healthcare if these budget cuts stand. The same forces driving these policies are the same forces leading deadly raids in our communities, suppressing the vote, and perpetuating injustices across the nation.

Founded in 2013 in North Carolina by Bishop William J. Barber, II, President & Sr. Lecturer of Repairers of the Breach, Moral Mondays is a protest movement that centers on impacted people, people of faith, and moral leaders who hold elected leaders and the government accountable for enacting a moral agenda that responds to the urgent needs of the poor.
