Press Conference Announcing Mass Mobilization Against NC Senate Bill 382

North Carolinians committed to shining a light on the anti-democratic policy violence of the current lame-duck supermajority will hold a press conference to announce mass mobilization and education on Senate Bill 382.

Senate Bill 382 takes power from the North Carolina governor, attorney general, and state school superintendent. The bill was introduced and rushed through the legislature with barely an hour’s notice, purporting to be a disaster relief bill while devoting most of its 131 pages to an autocratic and anti-democratic seizure of power, bypassing the will of the voters.

North Carolinians know it is time to come together regardless of political affiliation, Democrats, Republicans, and Independents—all North Carolinians who believe in democracy—and demand an end to the legislative coup and coverup going on in the North Carolina legislature in a fight to uphold the will of the people.

A broad coalition of organizations, including Forward Justice, Repairers of the Breach, the North Carolina Poor People’s Campaign, Democracy NC, Blueprint NC, NC For the People Action, Beloved Community Center, NC Black Alliance, Advance Carolina, NC Council of Churches, and other, will hold a press conference on Monday, November 25th at 11am to announce a mass mobilization and people’s resistance to Senate Bill 382.
