On Monday, Sept. 15th we heard directly from impacted people and clergy leaders about how the Big, Bad, Deadly, Destructive Budget Bill recently passed by Congress threatens lives—and what we must do now.
We are calling on people of moral conscience to organize for nonviolent, moral resistance and demand U.S. Senators to take immediate action to ensure vital programs are available for the poor, including healthcare access, SNAP benefits, and other social safety net programs. We know 51,000 people will die next year from lack of healthcare if these budget cuts stand. The same forces driving these dangerous policies are the same forces leading deadly raids in our communities, suppressing the vote, and perpetuating injustices across the nation.
