Bishop William J. Barber, II to issue moral call for a Christmas Truce.

Joining in solidarity with voices for peace around the world, Repairers of the Breach to host a moral call for a ceasefire to make space for a negotiated peace in Ukraine.

At 10pm EST on Christmas Eve, December 24th, Repairers of the Breach will host “No War: A Moral Call for A Christmas Truce.” In the long tradition of pausing war for holy days, a Christmas Truce occurred spontaneously on the front lines of World War I in 1914. A century later, a war in Ukraine has taken the lives of tens of thousands and upended life for millions. As people around the world gather to honor the Prince of Peace this season, Bishop William J. Barber, II will issue a moral call for a Christmas Truce.

“If we can put our weapons down for one night, maybe we can put them down for another,” Bishop Barber said. “And if we can stop the madness for tomorrow, maybe another day is possible too.”

A livestream of the event will be available at www.breachrepairers.org/livestream
