Poor and low-income people and their advocates will march on main streets of capital and other major cities across the country Oct. 15 to encourage low-propensity voters who are suffering the most from attacks on our democracy to register and vote in the midterm elections.

An organizing tour of North Carolina’s congressional districts to turn out the vote of poor and low-income people continues next week with a virtual stop in Fayetteville and an in-person program in Elizabeth City.

A diverse group of national, state and local faith leaders whose various traditions make up millions of congregants will join the Poor People’s Campaign National Call for Moral Revival on Thursday for an urgent briefing to urge Congress to act before the midterms on critical moral and social issues that directly impact millions of vulnerable neighbors.

The Poor People’s Campaign will reach out to 5 million poor and low-wage people and low-propensity voters before the midterm elections, encouraging them to vote based on policy demands and then follow through by making sure their candidates support policies that protect democracy and justice for poor and low-wage people

The numbers don’t lie, and they show that poor and low-wage low wealth people have the power to change North Carolina’s political landscape when they vote.

With the pivotal 2022 midterm elections as the backdrop, actress and producer Erika Alexander will visit North Carolina on Sunday to lead a discussion on voting rights and to screen her documentary “John Lewis: Good Trouble.”
