It’s Time to Vote Your Values! Join Us!

With just 4 days left in this midterm election season, we are in the final stretch of an intense battle to save our democracy and on the cusp of a potentially monumental shift in the landscape of our home state of North Carolina and the country.

Over the past few months, in a non-partisan effort to mobilize poor and low-wealth eligible voters around a moral public policy agenda, our team and volunteers have texted, canvassed neighborhoods, organized social media and radio programs, and visited churches and communities across the nation. We've been inspired by stories of people who are voting for their demands on public policy in this election and some who are voting for the very first time because of our efforts. In North Carolina alone, the Poor People's Campaign has contacted over 700,000 poor and low-wealth people, encouraging voters to make their voices heard during the ongoing early voting period and on election day. Nationally, the Campaign has reached over 5 million poor and low-wealth voters.

While our efforts are worth celebrating, our work is far from over. Almost 40% (3.4 million) of all eligible North Carolina voters are poor, low-wealth, and low-wage, and in 2020 over 1.1 million did not vote. Research shows that just a 19% increase in turnout in this voter population can significantly impact the election and could be the key to affordable health care, protected reproductive rights, and a living wage. We must turn this around.

In North Carolina,

  • 44% of residents are poor, low-wealth and low-wage, a total of 4.6 million people.

  • 47% of workers, 2 million people, make less than $15/hour.

  • 1 million people in North Carolina have no health insurance.

The stakes are high and we've got more work to do. We are committed to intensifying our non-partisan voter mobilization efforts over the next 4 days. Healthcare, living wages, reproductive rights & voting rights are all on the ballot, and our votes are directly connected to the changes we demand!

In Arizona, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina, the number of voters the Poor People's Campaign has reached has outpaced the margin of victory in each state from the 2020 election. As a final push before Election Day, we invite you to join us in Goldsboro, North Carolina, for an urgent national sermon by Bishop William J.
