At this critical moment in our nation’s history, we need a government that promotes unity and love towards all members of the human family, not division and hatred.”

Executive Summary

Our faith traditions provide a firm foundation upon which to stand against the divide-
and-conquer strategies of extremists. We believe in a moral agenda that stands against
systemic racism, labor exploitation, poverty, xenophobia, and any attempt to promote
hate towards any members of the human family.

Appendix I: The Stakes for Women and Children

In the United States, nearly 43 percent of women and almost half of all children are poor or low-income. Black, Latinx, and Native women and children experience a greater proportion of these disparities. Women and children are disproportionately affected by policy harms. Women are paid 18 percent less than men. From 2023 to 2024 there was a 39 percent increase in homelessness among people in families with children, the largest single-year increase in homelessness.

Appendix 2: The Impact of Trump-GOP Policies on Workers and Labor Rights

Many states have raised their own wage floors, but 20 states still use the federal minimum. The annual income of a single adult working full time at the federal minimum leaves this individual below the official poverty line in 2025.

Appendix 3: House Republican Proposals for Budget Reconciliation

As of May 14, 2025, House committees had approved key components of a budget reconciliation mega-bill that Republican leaders are now pushing towards a full House vote. This bill includes huge tax giveaways for the wealthiest Americans and large corporations and massive funding increases for the military and mass deportations while slashing health care and food assistance.

New work reporting requirements for enrollees are expected to result in at least 8.6 million losing their health insurance — without actually promoting employment. Most Medicaid enrollees already work, and those who do not are often caring for family members, have a disability, or attending school. The bill would also require enrollees to “re-prove” their eligibility, likely resulting in many people losing health insurance due to paperwork errors or processing delays.
