Through our MPOLIS (Moral Political Organizing Leadership Institute & Summit) trainings, we employ the principles of the moral fusion movement to teach the theory and practice of using diverse genres of music past and present as an organizing, empowering, and community building tool. Our goal is to bridge the commonalities between cultures and promote resistance art that speaks to the strength and power of a united and organized people.

For centuries, music has undergirded cultures, movements, and communities, and it continues to be the common thread that weaves through today’s movements for social change. From the spirituals of the abolition movement to the freedom songs of the civil rights movement to modern-day spirited songs like “Somebody’s Hurting My Brother” from the Forward Together Moral Movement, it is clear that music strengthens movements.

Our Theomusicology team leads the Moral Voices Justice Choir, which is made of state-based theomusicologists to support the work of the Poor People’s Campaign. In addition, we organize yearly national retreats for theomusicologists across the country and artists engaged or seeking to be engaged in social justice movements.

JOIN THE NORTH CAROLINA JUSTICE CHOIR

Do you believe in the power of music to heal, to unite, and to move people toward justice? Then we need your voice.

The NC Moral Voices Justice Choir is calling singers and spirit-lifters from across the triad and surrounding areas (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, etc.) to stand with us in this critical moment. This is more than a choir, it’s a movement. We are ordinary people raising an extraordinary sound for love, truth, and justice.

In times when division and despair try to drown out hope, we answer with harmony. When injustice shouts, we lift a louder chorus that cannot be ignored. Our songs fuel marches, lift weary hearts, and remind this nation that we will not be silent.

Open to all voices. No audition required, just bring your courage, commitment, and willingness to stand with others in the struggle for justice.

What you’ll gain:

  • The joy of singing in community with people of every background.
  • The chance to perform at rallies, assemblies, and historic gatherings.
  • A role in shaping the moral soundtrack of our movement.

This is a serious call for moral voices in urgent times. If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to sing for justice, this is it!

Sign up today on the Repairers of the Breach website and claim your place in the NC Moral Voices Justice Choir. Together, let’s take back the mic and tell the truth.
